I am intrested if there is other people out there like myself and my wife that are proud of our old boat. We have a 1971 Mark Twain that we have converted into a fishing boat. It has a 6 cyl. 165 h.p. i.o. Mercury that runs great each year. We have put in a new transom a few years ago because the other one had rotted from a previous owner. I was intimidated at first but then I thought, what have I got to lose? The boat was of no use the way it was. It was burnin up the rubber hubs because of the misalignment. We bought glass fabric and resin at West Marine and went to work. Years after that we took out all the seats and tore out the flooring seeing that the stringers were in bad shape. So we cut everything out and ground and sanded it down to the inside hull. Put in new stringers and extra support under the new flooring where new seat bases were going. Topped it off with my wife putting in marine carpeting and putting in a GPS color sonar. I think sometimes that I'd love to have a new boat right now, but it runs good, doesn't leak and fish dont't care what kind of boat your in! It's just a movin platform to fish off of. Anyway, I hope some out there liked hearing what we did and I hope you share your boat story with others. See you on the water!

My River boat is a 22" Monarch,, 72 year model. We repainted it three years ago, put seats in it and have used and used it. Year ago Last Dec. we put a new 15HP Merc onit, its not fancy but get the job done. Last trip out I managed to knock some rivets out.

Replaced the rivets and epoxied over them, now grinding the paint off to put an Air Boat epoxy on the bottom. Will do some other things while its down then it should be ready for another year or so.

Lake boat is a 2000 Lowe with 90 Hp 2 stroke Johnson it set for four years before we got it and has had lots of things replacedbilge pump, live well pump, batteries, wire in a plug for spot light in front. Added a front fish finder.

Scrubbed and scrubbed to get the calcium off where it set in the dock unused fpr two years, decal have washed off. Will repaint it this summer and next year new carpet. Maybe up grade t a better sonar.

I'm kinda "boat poor"...

16 ft. Blazer aluminum with 40 HP Evinrude Etec jet, 24 V Minnkota trolling motor

14 ft. Buddy Boat, aluminum, 6 HP Mercury motor that is about 50 years old (the boat is nearly 40 years old)--my dad actually keeps it at his house and uses it these days.

Two 16 ft. Old Town Penobscot Royalex tandem canoes

Three Oscoda fiberglass 14 ft. solo canoes--I keep two of them at the cabin in Montana.

Wenonah Vagabond Royalex solo canoe--my favorite solo

A Pakboat 15 ft. folding canoe

My brother-in-law now owns two of my old canoes, a Wenonah Sandpiper solo and my first canoe, a 15 ft. Grumman aluminum. I can borrow them from him if I want.

And I'm part owner of a big raft for floating in Montana.

My Bman "stimulus package" for local Mo (Hillsboro) business.

Sold my old jet john and got a new River Pro 186 Low Pro. 18 1/2 ft with a Merc Optimax 200 hp sport jet. Great for running shallow, skinny water. On cruise, gets better gas mileage than my '02 90 hp Yamaha 2 stroke...really!

Thats a heck of a nice boat Bman. Guess your out on the Big River a lot with that rig. I will know you when i see you. There isn't a lot of those out there, but I know a lot of us would love to have one. If you are into cats at all, check out the brotherhood of catfishermen at "catfish 1" Thanks for the pics.

I only have one boat besides a canoe. Its a 12' Jon boat, I don't even know what kind. I think my grandpa found it floating down the Meramec River after a flood about 40 years ago (I'm not exaggerating), and ended up giving it to me a few years ago. It only has a trolling motor on it. One time we tried to put an old ten horse outboard on it, but it just about tip the boat over backwards :D.

It might be old slow, but it still does the job. :D :D :D

Thanks, Yes I do get over to the Big River around Browns Ford. You might see more River Pro's in that area though, as thats the ramp that Kevin Turner owner of River Pro Boats uses to test new boat before he turns them over to the new owners.

Otherwise I use the Rt 66 State Park a lot which is just dowstream where the Big River enters the Meramec.

Well, I have a 48" wide 20'6" 2003 Shawnee with a 25 hp Yamaha. It pretty much looks like all the rest of the "green" Shawnees out there. I do have a rod box and bait trays and I added an aluminum floor to it to cover up the runners. It is the same stuff they put in the Blazers, etc. from Current River Marine. That perforated aluminum is really expensive though, but it is worth it--no more stumbling around on those runners. I also have an EzLoader trailer under the boat.
