So they actually turned the water off yesterday and I got to go down and fish it.

The first time I started out at the dam (right behind the island) with a march brown soft hackle and a pink frenchie. Caught my first fish on the third cast. After that it was just pretty much non-stop. I caught about 40 fish in about 2 hours. I switched around to flies that I had come up with out of boredom during the high water just to get some confidence with them. Pretty much everything I fished caught fish... Untill I started fishing really drab flies. Anything with a hot spot was awesome.

The second time I went down there I decided I would fish the Kiddy Pool just for the heck of it. The water had gotten dirtier since the first time and so I czech nymphed anything pink or bright green... It was a good day.

And just for the heck of it right after school I went fishing this afternoon and caught about 5 letting a big nymph drift down below me then rise up and strip it back. The water came up then I left.

It was a good two days. I have been freaking out because my competition is this next weekend and I hadn't been able to fish in low water for about a month. So just about any kind of fishing was awesome!

He's just trying to hog all that low water to himself when he knows darn good and well that all of us from the Tulsa area are about to go crazy due to the constant generation on the Arkansas and I can imagine that most of the trout streams in Missouri are either un-fishable or near that...

I've been checking the water just about every day for the past couple of weeks on the Arkansas and Lower Illinois, just to see what they're generating at. Then the 1 DAY that I don't check it, they don't generate at Tenkiller! Figures! I woulda made a mad scramble down there to fish because I don't work on Mondays, dang it!

I'm almost to the point that I'm going to say screw it...buy a spey rod...and start heaving big clousers into the local waters! I've gotta catch something on the fly stick soon...or I'm going to go nuts!

Guess I could always go pond fishing for largemouth :huh1:

I hear ya, brother!! I'm going through withdrawals. The only encouragement that I've had lately is that the wife said we may be going to Angel Fire at the end of June!!! I think there will be some good fishing only minutes away. I can't wait!!!

Right on! My wife and I are planning a trip to Colorado sometime in August or September...probably going to either Durango or Pagosa Springs for a few days. Heavily pressured water but lots of places to fish and the wife can do stuff in town while I fish in the mornings :D

Phil, if they shut down the water at Tenkiller on a sunday...I'll shoot you a message and we can car-pool out there if ya want? Or shoot me a message when you're going and I'll see if I can make it. I'll also let ya know if I'm sneaking off for a day-trip to Missouri to fish Capps, Crane, or Roaring River.

Chance,

Sounds like a deal. Same thing applies for the Arkansas River also. I'd like to go there with somebody that knows what they're doing.

Zach,

I hear you guys, I am going crazy. I did have a great weekend a couple of weeks ago on the Upper Mountain Fork River chasing smallies!

I have thought about the spey rod thing, I am going to buy one, but with all this water and me not being able to fish a lot because of it, I might buy sooner then later. I think you could have a good chance on the Arkansas when they are not generating above 15k cfs with a spey rod. :D

With the right line, you can throw those things a mile.

Sorry DaddyO, I really didn't think about anything other than puttin' those flies in the water and hookin' up!

Next time I go and find some low water I'll be sure to give you a call.

I appreciate the good luck there. It was announced that I was on the team at the trials but then I got an email about 5-6 hours ago that said I was on the team to go to the Czech Republic this Summer. I can send you guys the link to the website if you'd like.

I was just giving you a hard time.

Czech Republic... WOW!! That's great. Take lots of pictures and post them on the board so that we can live, vicariously, through you!!! :D
