zarraspook Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 We left Monett 0430 which should have put us on the water at 0515, right at daybreak.... half way there we hit FOG and a caravan of 18 wheelers running 15-20 mph... when we got to the lake you couldn't see the end of the launch ramp for the fog.... we GPS'ed at idle and got to where the stripper's had been breaking for the last 30 minutes and I hooked one and almost got it to the boat ... I missed two more hits and my son missed 4-5 hits.... Then the sun peeked thru the fog and the day was over.... Of course we didn't believe it so we stayed till noon with out another hit , execpt a dozen 6-8 inch smallmouth.... Water temp=64-66..... Clarity = You could tell which side of a dime was up in 18ft of water !!!!!!! "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
BlueWave Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 ZSpook, Thanks for the input. Were you throwin' a redfin? What area of the lake were you fishing. ?I am going down Sat/Sun.
zarraspook Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 ZSpook, Thanks for the input. Were you throwin' a redfin? What area of the lake were you fishing. ?I am going down Sat/Sun. The son was throwing a dark trout colored C10 and I was working a red & white "saltwarter" spook.... The fish were slapping at the lures more than trying to eat them........ We were working threequarters of the way back in the deeper coves off the main lake between Indian Point and the mouth ,on both ends, of the Island down towards the pumping station.... I think the fish we found were "strays" .. they were not schooled as tight as normal this time of year... But, the fish up here are not "on schedule" this year .... These fronts keep knocking them back a couple of days every time one comes thru...... "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
jay bird Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 What are you calling Indian point? I think I know where you are, but have heard of Indian Creek, but not Indian Point down on beaver. The problem is that everyone I fish with had their own names for all the coves, etc. Went down on 5/6 out off Lost Bridge south the the PM and did not see any Striper on top, but did boat some fair size smallies and some nice spots on the spook. Thanks for the report will try to post results as I get down there to fish more. PS I am out of Cassville and that can be a long trip in the Fog, and really scary when you are on the water in the fog and the big bass boys are going by you at 70 looking at their GPS's.

We launched out of "Indian Point Campgrounds".. It is on the north side of Indian Creek when setting in the mouth of Indian creek looking up (West) into Indian Creek... It is the point due North of Lost Bridge North Marina/Campgrounds..Across the mouth of Indian Creek...... "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
jay bird Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Got it thanks for the information. For some reason that was a good spot last year for some top water action early in the AM into late June. Good luck.
jay bird Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Sorry one more ? was the dock usable or was it still underwater?
zarraspook Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 Sorry one more ? was the dock usable or was it still underwater? The state boys must have moved the dock up because, the end of the dock was about 4 foot above the water... the lake is/was about 5foot high........... jay bird Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I wish they would put a nice Dock on that ramp. The one at Dam Site is almost worth the extra two miles to drive it is always set up nice and has plenty of parking. If Indian had a good dock it would be the best of everything, it is by far the straightest Drive to any Lake from Cassville.
