Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 This is just gonna be a fun thread anyone can post on referring to day to day STL Cardinals games. I am not sports writer.. just a fan who will probably catch 90% of the games this season on TV or radio and share my opinion here. The Cards opened the season with long balls Monday.. winning the first game handily over the Phillies, but it took Izzy to pull out the win for tonights game. Bases loaded in the ninth with the Phillies threatening and Izzy shuts 'em down. Let's hope he can stay healthy all year along with the rest of our big guns (especially Rolen!) Daygame tomorrow - 1:30 with Marquis pitching to sweep. Next set of 3 is with the Chi-Cubs / 2 day games in a row ( ugh!) followed by a 7:05pm night game, then the home opener is the 10th I believe in the *NEW* Busch against MIL. GO Cards! Danoinark Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 My tv guide said the game was going to be on ESPN2, but apparently not here in North Ark. I think the Springfield Cards and Ark Travellers play on TV tomorrow evening..maybe KYTV...?? Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Kicknbass Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 but it took Izzy to pull out the win for tonights game. Bases loaded in the ninth with the Phillies threatening and Izzy shuts 'em down. Izzy started the 9th and let the runners on base. I think he just must make it interesting. He can't just can in and shut them down 1,2,3. He walks 2 or 3 guys then gets the last out. He made me nervous last year many games. But in the end he ussually got the save. It looks like another great season is ahead again. Go Cards. Kicknbass Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 My wife got an opportunity to take a VIP tour at the new Busch Stadium on monday. Here are a few pictures from her visit. This is going to be an awsome place to watch the Cards play. The veiw from home plate into the outfield should really help "SELL" St. Louis to the nation as a place to visit. Members BMOE Posted April 6, 2006 Members Posted April 6, 2006 Live in K.C. but but from ST.LOUIS CARDS RULE!!!!! With guys like Pujols and Rolen who needs a barry bonds!
Brian Sloss Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Izzy scares me as a closer. Loaded the bases last night before getting the last out. Interested to see how 2nd base and the outfeild holds up and of course pithing (especially relief). Should be a fun year, they've looked pretty good so far. My business partner is a Cubs fan, so Cards/Cubs can get pretty interesting around here with some pretty stupid bets bets involving work load or a beer. Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 Dano - how'd that game finish up for the Springfield Cards against the Ark Travelers.. I didnt catch a wrap up on Jock Talk the next day. Kicknbass - Sweet pics.. your wife is one luckly lady to see the stadium AND the clubhouse! Brian, beadhead and Kicknbass - I think Izzy does make a game of it.. to keep things intersting as you said.. why else would Tony keep him around ?? ha ha MoTex - my 2 brothers live in Houston.. and I lived there 20 years.. but I was born in STL, so shine the idea while you can.. but it aint gonna last long! Why we lost this game today ? Well.. we couldnt hit for poop against 319 game winner Maddux.. and .. well.. thats it - I fell asleep watching this game - bored from lack of bat on ball. 'til tomorrow - Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
mcp633 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Bummer about yesterday's loss to the Cubbies. Anyway I have tickets for opening day . As you can imagine, I'm pretty excited. My wife and I are rabid Cards fans. Anyone else going? If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them
