OKFlyFisher44 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Who's down? If the water is shut off all day and offering prime wading conditions....I'll be at Zink around 3:30 if anyone wants to join in on the fun! Crossing my fingers they stick to the projected schedule! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Okieflyfisher53 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 Chance, According to the SWPA liars, they aren't running water tomorrow, either. It is still at 13000 cfs, so it will take a while to get down to wadeable conditions. I think I'll go play with the bluegills and redears today and see if the Arkansas is low enough tomorrow. Steve
Members ColeM. Posted May 9, 2009 Members Posted May 9, 2009 Of course the weekend I am out of town, they stop releasing water! If they stick to the schedule, you fellas should have a great time. Let me know how it goes! Looking at the data from the Zink Dam, tomorrow should be good fishing! I wish they could hold off releasing until Monday Evening! Have fun guys and stay safe!
OKFlyFisher44 Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 Right on Steve...if you go out to Zink tomorrow, drop me a message! If its not wade-able at Zink, I'm thinking I am going to sneak over to the lower illinois and take both my 4wt and my 7wt. If I cant get into any trout, I'll see if I can't chase some stripers!! Yeah, I've been checking the USGS website...still rolling at 13,200 cfs, sucks! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
DaddyO Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 The water started dropping at the Lower Illinois and now it is back up again. I'm gonna keep an eye on both the Arkansas and the Lower Illinois and try to get a line in the water sometime between now and Tuesday. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Members ColeM. Posted May 9, 2009 Members Posted May 9, 2009 It looks like the water is rising again on the Arkansas.
Members Poke 'Em Posted May 10, 2009 Members Posted May 10, 2009 Looks like the stopped generating, but left the gates open.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 This sucks...really really sucks! I got up early this morning to make sure and pack all my gear before I headed off to work too. Oh well...cross my fingers and hope tomorrow pays off for us! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Okieflyfisher53 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Chance, I would be very surprised if we see wadeable water on the Arkansas this weekend. I will probably go bream fishing again tomorrow. I brought a few home to for supper tonight. Steve
OKFlyFisher44 Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 I hate to say it, but I'd have to agree with you Steve. Looks like they forgot to turn off that last generator today...freakin' stinks! Its holding steady at 13,400 cfs, like it has all day today! Stupid... Nice lil' mess of bluegills you got there. Never had bluegill...always heard they had too many bones! We always eat crappie as far as fish...every now and then, we'll throw down on some catfish. Well, I'm going to cross my fingers that they shut the water off at the lower illinois tomorrow. I'm going to check it first thing in the morning and see what the generation is...if it looks promising, I'll head that way! If anyone from Tulsa wants to join me...send me a message on here! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
