Hi guys,

I am going to be coming down this weekend and we're staying close to the dam. I have never done much trout fishing, but I would like to try my luck. I don't have any fly gear though. Just thought I would see if anybody had some tips for me as far as what to use (I have both baitcast and spinning set ups), where to fish, etc. Thanks for the help.

JIGS, JIGS, JIGS!!!!!!!!!!! A variety of colors, sculpin is always a good go to, olive, ginger, you might throw white for awhile and just see, it'll either be super hot or worthless, but its always worth a couple casts!! I have been catching pretty consistently on 1/8th oz olive/ginger Zig Jigs in this high water, just throwing from a boat and workin it back, should be somewhat similar from the bank! In this high water though that would probably be your best bet without a fly rod, you'll at least catch a few almost guaranteed pitchin em out there!!

A fool with a plan is always better than a genius with NO PLAN!!!!

bigdub is right..

jigs would probably be the #1 choice....

but dont leave out you rapalas, rouges and shad raps.... (stickbaits)....

and if your fishing in the dam area... better bring some waders..

if you dont have any.. River Run outfiiters rents them... or think about buying a pair..
