Members Firefish Posted May 14, 2009 Members Posted May 14, 2009 I'm coming down in early June and was curious which float would be the most productive drift fishing with flyrod in moderate to high flows: Wilcat to Rim, or Rim to Buffalo City. Or others if you have any suggestions. I'm hoping for no flow at all, but you know how that works out. Thanks.
Members Yakfly Posted May 15, 2009 Members Posted May 15, 2009 Rim to Buffalo city is better. You get Rim, Shoestring, Ranchette, and best of all Buffalo Shoals to fish. Plus if its not flooded, you can fish the bottom of Crooked creek and nail some nice bass. The confluence of CC & WR at Shoestring shoals is a fishing paradise. UNLESS - Crooked creek is flooded and dumping alot of warm, muddy water into the White. Tends to make it tough (for me anyway). Then I'd do Wildcat to Rim.
John Berry Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I concur with Yakfly. Currently Crooked creek is running high and muddy. You need to decide the day of the trip based on conditions. ozark trout fisher Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I concur with Yakfly. Currently Crooked creek is running high and muddy. You need to decide the day of the trip based on conditions. Rim Shoals to Buffalo is good advice from my limited experience.
Members Firefish Posted May 20, 2009 Author Members Posted May 20, 2009 I appreciate the info. Do you guys know a phone number or web site where I can check the level of crooked creek when we get there?
