Ark Smallies

I was out on the 18th. Water was up about a foot and flowing so fast I could barely wade some places. Very dirty. Caught several smallies on chartruese and white clouser with large stainless steel red eyes. Also, several crappie on pink and chartruese clouser. Intermediate sinking line.

Still looking for big smallies. Caught several large and juicy male bluegills on sinking line with nymphs.

Thanks for sharing, but what part of the river were you fishing? I know in Arkansas but how far up?

I sure hope it clears up and gets down pretty soon. I can't fish below the dam until they turn off generators so I try to make due with smallies. lol

You can go to "RiverSide Resort" (Click on the name) and do their 2-3 hour float. They will put you in at the Chewey Bridge. Right under the bridge is a deep hole that you can pull a couple of large mouth out of. Right after the bridge is a 3 to 4 ft deep run that usually holds some smallies. We usually turn this 2 to 3 hour float into an all day affair and wade more than float.

If you decide to do this float, take a length of rope with you so that you can tie it to you and the canoe. This will keep you from having to beach the canoe while you fish.

I would love to go float up there. the only problems I would have is that I don't know when my practice is in Pennsylvania. I know its the end of June. And we might be doing a fundraiser that weekend.

How many people do you put in each canoe? I've not ever paddled a canoe in a river but I have done Kayaks and have no problem.

2 in a canoe or we can do Kayaks. I'll let you know when I'm going.
