DaddyO Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I'm gonna come over to MO this weekend. Plan on fishing Taney on Saturday and Roaring River on Sunday. I might even try to fish Taney at night. It's been so long since I've had a trout on the end of the line, I've been going through withdrawals. What flies should I bring with me? DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
timsfly Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 For Roaring River: Elk hair caddis 14-18's, adams 14-18's, griffiths gnats 18-22's, blue wing olives 16-22's I've been catching a few on these dries, beetles, ants, and light colored cracklebacks have been good also the past week. Small bead head nymphs, copper johns, pheasant tails, caddis larva, zebra midges, and sow bugs have all been good. Glo-balls, san juan worms, thread jigs, grubs have all been good, fished about 24-36" under a float. the water is still up a bit, but clearing everyday, you can see 5 to 6' into the water when the sun is up, if you have a good pair of glasses. Most of the dries I've been using have been 16's, but you can get them to hit the #14 in the eve. I find when the sun has been up on high, the smaller sizes have been working well. Bring the usual buggers in sizes #8- #14's as these have been most of the year.
