Zack Hoyt Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 We had a large group on the Beaver Tailwaters last Friday(May 30). Fog was extrememly heavy in the morning, but the sun burned it off very quickly. The very warm temps and blue bird skies presented a bit of an issue. Fish were able to see under the water very well. A nice midge hatch started coming off slightly before lunch, so we switched from scuds and 6x tippet to tiny midges and 7x. The trout really turned on about 2pm with more than 60 being caught between lunch and the end of the day. Quite a few nice rainbows were caught as well as two tiny browns. Very little wind and little to no movement on the water made casting and drifting very easy. The higher 80 degree temps made the chilly water fell very good. The wonderful spring scenery in the Arkansas Ozarks only added to the wonderful day had by all. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
