shockley32 Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 The fishing on Pomme De Terre continues to be fantastic. Put in at Pittsburg State Park and fished brush piles on the Pomme arm. Every brush pile I fished today was a new to me, fish were caught on every single one. Two of us kept 25 keepers averaging 10-11” with some bigger in about 4 hours. We easily had enough fish to finish our limits on the top of the water next to the boat but since we weren’t tourney fishing we didn’t use a net. We also caught 15-20 shorts, 10 green carp and a few white bass. The brush was 11-25 feet of water just fishing in the tops of them. Started by swimming jigs (exclusively blue/white slab busters) over the top of the brush and then vertical jigging and a few minnows. The brush started anywhere from 2 feet down to 20 feet down, as along as you were in the brush you had an opportunity. It should be great fishing for the tournament this Friday night, hope to see some of you there. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Members boz Posted June 3, 2009 Members Posted June 3, 2009 Thanks for the fishing report! Went down to Pomme over the weekend and fished for Bass. Boy was it slow! The fish would pick up but drop the worm instantly. I guess the lake was dropping too much .I did catch a good walleye trolling crankbaits on the flats,so it wasn't a total wash. Good to hear that the crappie are biting,I'll keep that in mind when I go down again.
shockley32 Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 Those toothy critters are great to eat! I fished Stockton tonight and that was how they were acting with the jig, they picked it up and spit it out before you could set the hook. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
FishinCricket Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Bass fishing still pretty slow at Pomme? A friend and I are thinking of coming that way tomorrow morn.. But neither of ushave EVER been. I see lots of crappie reports, but not much Bass info.. What's the scoop? Big bass in Pomme? If so, do they like frogs and buzzbaits? Or should we stick to what we know at LOZ? (He's wanting to fish an upcoming tournament there, I guess?) cricket.c21.com

(He's wanting to fish an upcoming tournament there, I guess?) Yeah there are some huge bass in the lake, my biggest was around ten on a jerkbait two springs ago. Ive been doing decent with jigs on channel swing banks, that and a crankbait on those same banks. I havent been able to find any size yet this year lots of 13 inchers and the occasional three pounders. There are plenty of good docks on the lake that hold fish. Being from Lake O that might be something to check on. Fishing for me has been better on the pomme arm of the lake. The frog bite is better when its in the bushes. Im sure you can catch some fish on a buzzbait right now too. Hope this helps a bit!

shockley32 Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Pomme is a great bass lake with plenty of good fish. However you will have to weed through the 12 inchers to find them. You should do great throwing cranks, plastics and jig. Try the first three coves by the dam, you should catch enough to make your trip worth while. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
