crappiefisherman Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I Know the lakes very high, and we have to launch off the road, but has anyone tried lately down there? Is there any topwater activity early?Any one caught any crappie? Are the bolders moved at the old campground entrance for trailer parking?I want to fish tommorrow and really hope for a decent report or just some one to tell me to stay home and mow my yard and clean up my garage.................... Sam Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Sorry, I don't have any current info. I've been wanting to get down there too, for a walleye and crappie trip. After Sunday it looks like there's clouds and a chance of showers all next week, so I'll try and pick a cloudy day to go. In trips earlier this spring, I noticed that the rocks have been removed from the campground entrance. When launching off the road, though, I've always found room to park at that real wide corner by the creek where the high road branches off from the low road. Four or five years ago in June I remember the water was at 673, which I figure is 20 feet above normal. Last night it was at 671.9, whch is right at 19 feet above. At that level you oughta be able to launch easy in that dip where the low road and high road split. Knowing there's the pavement of the low road underneath, I'll probably keep my main motor kicked up and use the trolling motor to get off the road and into the cove to the left. After that it should be easy - I think every stump I could hit is 'way underwater now. Good luck with your trip. Give us a report, please - I've been wondering what's going on there.
crappiefisherman Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Saw some whites surfacing very early, before the wind, caught several kentukies all about 10 inches long and fought a 4 foot long gar just for the heck of it.I really didnt have much fun this morning . maybe try again tommorrow.............................I decided to wash my truck and rake the yard..........then went to moonshine beach and played in the sand with my girls........................then ate dinner and looked at both posts on this site.Is everyone fishing or cleaning their garages out [ [
Forsythian Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Went there today... lake level is 670 and launching is a pain. As for the fishing, we found Kentuckies on the steeper main lake banks... fishing wasn't too bad until the sun broke through the clouds. We found good swimming afterwards! Cenosillicaphobiac
