Fly_Guy Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 WHOOOEEE - I'm putting out an advanced warning to Roaring River trout - it's time for the annual trip, and this year, we will show no mercy. I'm puttin these trout on notice - the smack-down will start next Monday, and will continue mercilessly until wednesday. Mercilessly..... without mercy! My buddies from KC and I have gotten the latest Berkley Gulp Alive Super-Duper Almost-Cheetin' Jaw-Droppin' Power POWER Eggs - and we aren't afraid to use them!!! And zone 2, it is my purpose to leave NO FISH without sore jaw after one wade through. That's right... just one! If you fish know what's good for you, you'll just swim up to the bank in defeat, cause we're comin' with soundness of mind, and purity of heart. Be warned! Seriously... please let us limit out....

WHOOEEE! Oh yeah - Weather will be partly cloudy, 74, with a southwest breeze of 5 mph. WHOOEEE!!

Humm, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I guess you know a limit each day would have put you over the possession limit of 8 fish. Hope you ate a lot of fish while you are there, sounds like a good time.

Good news is we slayed em (naturally ) And no worries - we had an agent fishing with us for a while, so we abode by the rules - I just kept 4 for Wife and I to fry. Purdy hot. Monday night Gpa died - so that put a damper. He lived in N. Kansas, and folks said to stay away while all the plans were being made, so we stayed and fished Tuesday and Wednesday, but heart wasn't in it. I caught just one fish tuesday (I assure you due to lack of ambition, not skill ) untill a little before the buzzer, when a fly rod and a #20 gnat soothed my spirits and fooled 15 or so trout. Packed up Wednesday noon, went home, and went up to Kansas Thursday. It was good to see friends again. Gpa was a good man - and he got all three of his wishes - he died quick, never lived in a nursing home (he was 92, with an 80 yr old wife - marry em young, guys!), and never lost his mind. Best way to do it in my opinion. He had a dandy pond on his farm in which my wife caught a 4 lb bass right after we were married. Good memories - he had a cow if we threw a fish back - "you eat what you catch".

Samkam1 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Our prayers are with you guys as well. Sorry to hear about your g'pa. Hope you are all doing well. Sounds like you had a great time down at RR.....we fished the 18th-22nd down at Norfork -- the fishing was tough out on the lake and we couldnt get any good shiners or shad for stripers so we only caught a couple the whole time we were down there. Caught a few black and white bass, tons of perch, but mainly spent most of the time floating in the water because is was SO HOT. The lake was beautiful -- bathtub clear down to about 15 ft or more. We fished for a few hours down in the tailwaters (because we couldnt get the stripers or walleye to bite on the main lake ) where the Norfork meets the White....they had just started generating so the river came up quick and tons of moss with it...we did end up catching a few stockers on power bait which was cool. Man that river is awesome...I want to rent a river boat and go catch some hogs. The stripes are biting good down at Beaver -- we will probably be going every weekend for a while. We'll call you next time we head down and see if you can hop in and head down with us. See you soon! SK
