I got a great chance the first week in June to go hiking with a group of guys from Columbia Missouri. We went to the Lost Creek Wilderness area between Denver and Colorado Springs and a little west. What a beautiful place! It wasn't a very long hike but sure made the lungs hurt for a while. The first day and a half it rained and if you sleep with a C-pap machine you know it's tough to sleep without it let alone in the cold rain! Every morning I woke up with ice on my tent. There were eight of us and you couldn't ask for a better bunch of guys to get out and enjoy God's works with. I'd go with them again in a heart beat!!!

We did get to do some Brook trout fishing. The little Brookies were hard to find sometimes but we did manage to catch a few. They are one of the brightest most colorful fish around. We spent three nights in the mountains and loved every minute of it.

That reddish-orange meat is the sweetest tasting of any kind of trout in my opinion. Plus... I love the country I have to catch'em in!

Yep, brookie meat is sure good..............

I stayed in a forest service cabin in Montana on a nice brook trout stream for five nights a few years ago. I had brookies every other night for dinner......

What a treat. So much better than stocked rainbow
