Members Steff Posted April 10, 2006 Members Posted April 10, 2006 The Steffens , George, Jean and Steff, arrived at Lilleys Landing late Sunday afternoon March 9th, and decided to go to Table Rock to Crappi fish. We fished the Long Creek area and caught a few Crappi. They were all males and not tight to the bank. Perhaps a few days or a week or so till the hot Crappi fishing starts. As of Monday mornig we turned our attention to the Trout. We found them cooperative and had good sucess on Midges, best was Red size 16. Scuds both Gray and Brown, size 12 or 14 were also effective. Our complaint if it could be called that was that we missed so many strikes. don"t know if it was because the fish were hitting light or if we just were consistantly slow. On Thursday afternoon we decided that instead of concentrating on fish caught we would also count missed strikes. From 3 to 5 by accutal count we lost 50 strikes, and landed 36 fish. For two fishermaen at that time 86 strikes in two hours was an awsome fihing experience. Largest fish of the trip was caught as per usual by Jean, a beautiful colorful fat Rainbow of 18 1/2 inches. Steff caught the most unusual Rainbow. It was an 18 inch rainbow, full color, fat and healthy, except about 2/3's of the way from head to tail the fish"s back was broken and the rear pointed downward at an 45 degree angle. Son George said, Dad if we broke it's back and straightened it out it would measure 21 inches. We did not do that but released it to cause some other fiasherman to enjoy that special fish later. On two seperate days were saw a Red Fox ---Another great trip out of Lilleys Landing--------STEFF
