Buy some minnows and try them in the middle of the current. I've got a ton of catfish that way. Also, try down stream near the log jams on the north side before you get under the bridge.

i planned on the log jam's if i can see them good enough to get rite in them and the current's not to bad....lost an achor there once, dont want to lose another one,i had one of the biggest bite's of my life there fishing a live bluegill, didnt hook him though.

i was goin to go now but im goin to wait an hour so my women can go so i should be in the water by 430-5 o clock.

well...i didnt get to fish the log pile's....women was to scared of the current...i also cant go more than 5mph when she's in the boat...lol.

took over an hour to get 3 shad, had to get them at the ramp instead of the normal place...nothing running for the dipnet and nothing in the cast net.

got to fish for maybe 2 hour's.

she caught the first one, about 1 pound

i caught the next and last one,about 3 pound's.

fair amount of actual bite's instead of like last time where the school's of fish ran your line over. just little catfish i think cause i couldnt get them to take the bait.

everyone else was catching fair amount's of small one's also.

i was using small cut shad for bait.

i caught 7 largemouth in my cast net about 1 pound each, let them go.

gar are still heavy and everywhere and the carp are jumping out of the water around the generator's alot, seen a couple spoon's break top.

last time i went im pretty sure the water was a little lower than this time,i think they didnt have all the generator's going last time.

didnt see how the crappie and bass guy's were doing, around 10-13 boat's i'd say on the water when i left, bunch of bank guy's like usual.

umm...i think that's all i got.

have the catfish started there nest guarding yet?

i wanted to blam me not catching anything for 7 hour's last time i went on the spawn...lol.

also im thinking about going to truman sunday sometime, never been there so if anyone is around tuscumbia and is going so i can follow let me know.

anyway...i'd say the fishing is....in the middle, not good, not bad, hell of alot better than last week.

i fished the osage today also at tuscumbia and going up river about 5 mile's.

fished 5 different spot's

the first spot i had lot's of hope for something big, lot's of big rock's n ledge's with small channel's along the rock's and....part's like a mini wing dike about 10 foot long with the water swirling around the back of the dike.....when the water's down.

so i figured i knew where everything was so i got set up and the current was just to stong, very disapointed about that spot.

then just worked my way downriver toward the ramp after that.

lot's of bite's again,only caught one...again. not to big.

used shad like i do most of the time, thought about getting nightcrawler's but figured i'd just end up getting a bunch of drum.

sunburnt bad, probly wont be fishing for atleast 3 day's.

fished from 12-4.

lot's of people out today for some reason, never seen that many out on the river around tuscumbia before.

does anyone know if the jeff city river is down cause that's where i plan to take my next trip, there or truman.

Try a lighter weight. It sound like the fish are dropping it.

Anyone hear anything about Bagnell?

I got a late on Sat the 13th arrived from Columbia at about 9:00-9:30. No water through the flood gates but they appeared to be letting some through for power generation. It was fairly crowded, I counted about 25 boats in the water. Things started out pretty slow. I was able to dip up a dozen or so shad on the bank by the turbines but couldn't get anything interested in them except for a gar that I managed to actually hook and get to the boat. I moved over to the cove, picked up few small crappie, a few bluegills, a small-ish largemouth. I was pretty much on my way back to the ramp and saw a single boat over by the pilings almost straight across from the ramp. The caught a few what looked like crappie while I was pointed in their direction. I figured what the heck and tied up to one of the pilings near the bank at what I hope was a respectful distance, maybe 20-30 yards. The current at the bank was just starting to curl back upstream so from where I was, it was almost coming straight at me from the main downstream current. I caught a few black bass on an oversize black and chartreuse crappie tube jig and then a few more on a small white twister-tail jig. That got hung up and when I opened my tackle box I saw an already rigged Mr Twister shad-shaped soft bait in pearl on a large-ish ball jig. That's when things really heated up. I must have caught 25 large-mouth, small-mouth and hybrid bass from that one spot. Three different times I had to straighten out a bent hook just from hauling'em in. Nothing trophy sized but the action was great! I would cast straight out about as far as I could given the line size (12 lb) and the small lure, count ten seconds and start a medium retrieve. It's the sort of day that makes up for a lot of slow fishing. Expect I'll try it again this coming weeked.
