Bman Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I have seen some of Charlie Readings rods...they are nice but pricey. I know a guy that fishes Montauk quite a bit and he had a split bamboo made by reading. He had some feathers from his pet parrot inlayed on the rod and the butt piece looked more like a piece of jewelry than a handle...nice work and it should have been, believe he payed $3500.00 for the rod...I would be about half scared to use the rod but I guess I wouldn't have one built if I had no intention of using it. Yes they are pricey...but the example you point out is going to be very pricey anywhere. The only good line is a tight line
Clay Goforth Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Thanks for the mention there, Dano...we appreciate at least a look from people when considering a new rod. And our custom rods are in a much more affordable range. Thanks again. twosets Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I have 2 of Clay's spinning rods and they are absolutely great. I would highly recommend them "This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."
Members Malarkey Posted June 26, 2009 Members Posted June 26, 2009 I a had a custom rod built by Dale Griest from Nixa, I know he will build them in about any price range and will give you many options. I personally work with him and know from experience what a perfectionist he is. If you are interested, let me know and I can get you in touch with him.
