I was up at Eagle Rock Monday night and had a great time. Fished til about 1 and had several good fish on a black spinnerbait. I'm gonna come back up tomorrow night and Sat. night. Seems like I've heard there is a speed limit at night and that I must keep my running lights on at all times. Not that I wanna run 60mph but I would like to know what the rules are if anyone can please tell me.

All my fish came off of steeper rock points. Also caught a few on a hula grub. It was great time!

Thanks!

Yep. It's 30 after dark.

What a joke too... I would like to see a loaded bass rig run 30 mph and be able to stay on plane for more than a half mile. I haven't seen a full size bass rig do that yet. We try to keep it under 40... of course, that is also tough to do sometimes when you have a full livewell.

Also, you are supposed to keep your running lights on if you are more than 50 feet from the bank, but nobody does. The man doesn't seem to care about that... however, he may pull you over for speeding after dark-- so watch out.

Good luck.

If you are new to the lake, take it slow and watch out for the floating logs and the no wake / shallow point buoys. There are some spots that will jump out at you at night if you are going much over 30 mph. I remember the lake before the speed limit, and it got plain dangerous on the fourth of July weekend when all the ski boats were out at night (going 50 mph) watching the fireworks and the fishermen were fishing out on the long main lake points without their lights on. Follow the law, take it slow, and the let the hotshots pay their tickets and tear up their boats and/or bodies.

Whack'em: You hurt my feelings. My rig barely goes 32 at WOT. It cruises at 25. It will plane from here to Shell Knob at a little over 20, with a full live well. I guess it doesn't count as a real boat, though, right?

Thanks guys! Fixing to walk out the door right now and head that way. Hoping for a topwater bite this evening and hopefully some more of that black spinnerbait action when the lights go out. However I have to do it though is fine with me. We're gonna launch at campbells point and fish between mill creek and big creek. I'll let ya'll know how we do. Thanks again!

Throw a red pork rind on that black spinner bait and you will catch more fish.

Maybe he is thinking in km/hour? I'm on plane below 30 mph every time in a bass boat (unless I missed something the 500+ times I have been out on the water at night). Heck, I'm even on plane below 30 in a 26ft. Cobalt!.............must be a joke. (It would be funnier if he said the boat drove better after a couple of beers!) Sorry Wack 'em, I didn't realize you were joking.

I was running one night from the Bridge back to Big M and was doing the 30 MPH when something barely caught my eye in the water ahead of me. It was two kids in a dark green canoe :o . Scared me to death and I yelled at them like I have never yelled at anyone. No light, no nothing if I was going faster I am not sure if I could have stopped in time.
