Members flyfisherman Posted June 28, 2009 Members Posted June 28, 2009 I met a good friend from Tennessee at 11pt canoe for a day of fishing on the point. The heat index for that day was over 105 but it wasn't bad on the river other than the killer flys that ate us to pieces. The fishing was excellent, we caught fish everywhere we stopped, our largest was 17" caught at Island four. The most productive area by far was the shoal just above Little Huricaine rapids, between my freind an I we caught a good dozen there and another 10 or so in Hurricaine rapids. The settup we used was dons crawdad with a caddis pupa dropper with the hits about 50/50 on each fly. We also did really well with streamers especially right below island one. The color of choice was a black wolly bugger with some gold flash. The traffic was light so it was a great day on the point. Thanks to 11point canoe rental for getting us on the river early and it was good to see Ryan as he has been busy with first born. I hope the action is as good when I will be there in August three times.
