Stockton Lake fishing Report

06/25/2009

Water temp 85

Walleye have started moving to the flats from the points. You can catch fish either place by drifting with a night crawler rig in 16 foot of water. The fish will move around so watch your electronics and locate the fish. Main lake has been the best. Find points that are close to the channel or flats that are close to deep water. They have been biting good most of the time, but some days are better than others.

Crappie have moved to the main lake brush piles and off points up the rivers. 1/16 oz jigs or minnows seem to work the best. Work the fish vertical and try to stay right on top of the brush. Been catching some nice fish in the evenings.

Bass as always are biting great. Plastic worms, tubes, jigs, and brush hogs seem to work the best on main lake points in 10-12 foot of water. Texas rigged seems to be getting more bites for me than Carolina rigging, but either should catch you some fish. Also, don’t pass up the brush piles on the main lake. I heard someone caught an 11.2 lb bass Thursday night, but they didn’t bring it to the weigh in at ruark. They were not in our tournament, but would have loved to see the fish. I haven’t seen the fish to verify that it was really caught, but I haven’t been home much either to try to find it.

Catfish have been biting good by drifting shad across flats and points in 12-15 foot of water. You should be able to catch cats without much trouble, so if you don’t get bit, move to a new place.
