Have been staying at Lilley's all week. Was in Tim's fly shop yesterday and he said to use two pound Maxima leader or tippet. Took a day trip today and fished Roaring River for about three hours. Tim was right! The smallest line I had was 6X. Had lots of looks but only one taker. Showed them san juan worms, copper johns, mini y2k's, zebra midges, sowbugs, scuds, and a fly from Tim's that I will call a mini bugger (Tim if you see this would you please tell us what this fly is, it is black and yellow and lives behind the John Deere's in your shop). Anyway like I said lots of looks but they all turned away at the last second. I am convinced that they saw my line and were spooked. On the brighter side I was able to play with some new toys. My new nonprescrition Costa Del Mar bifocals in amber worked above my wildest dreams and the 3wt TFO that I picked up from Rainbow Fly Shop in Independence off of the pre owned rack felt really good. Tough day but I learned a lot and it feels so good to be out of the caves and actually see daylight.

Thanks Tim I really liked them. KCRIVERRAT I graduated from Concordia high school and my wife graduated from Truman. You may have run across me on a ball field though as I was a pitching coach for around 20 years up until several years ago.

I got to go down Friday morning with my three girls. There were quite a few fishing. The upper end was way to full to take my 7, 9, and 11 year olds there. We went down to the fly area. Much smaller crowd. We found a out of the way spot and started. They did pretty good as long as dad was letting them land fish. Then the hands started getting tired and the minds wandered and it was time to head up to the swimming area to let them play in the water. There are some fish in some of the swimming holes. Got a little wet with the showers that were popping up. The girls ended up landing about 15 fish in a couple hours. The Killer Worm did the trick again. Great day with my girls!!!
