bigredbirdfan Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I fished this morning from 6:30 until 11 at lookout fishing jigs. The bite is real good early before the sun takes over. I wanted to launch at 5:30 but after watching the radar I held off to see if Branson was going to get the storms. Go earlier than you normally would and it will pay off. I boated fifteen fish on 1/16 oz jig bouncing off the bottom. The bite absoutly died at 10-10:30. Bright sun little to no wind and you could watch trout swarm your jig and flare off like ducks who see you in the blind. I left just as the idiots were taking over the lake. Slob didn't quite describe the fools on the water. I did land some nice fish in the 15-18 inch range. There were lots of people fishing off the bottom, don't know what success they had but I would guess the bottom bite was good. I guess if this helps one person it's worth writing a report. Haven't seen very many day reports so I felt inclined to write one. Look Out for inexperienced or outright bad boaters they have been everywhere lately.
Members Stevan Posted July 3, 2009 Members Posted July 3, 2009 Serious question. I don't often fish Taneycomo, but always enjoy it when I do. Generally fish from a boat. What is it that people do that causes them to be referred to as idiots or slobs? I've been making my twice annual trips to Taney for the past fifteen years or so and have had very few problems, and hope I've caused none. I'm not being confrontational at all. I'm just honestly curious what people do, seemingly on a regular basis, to hack off the regulars. Thanks for any information or advice that might help me or others in the future.
bigredbirdfan Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 Running at high speed 10 feet from the bow of your boat while you are parked. Trying to tear off their lower unit bc they don't even know what they are doing. Parking your boat where the channel is only 10 feet wide. Taking up the whole boat ramp when it should accomodate 2 trailers. Not having your boat ready to launch getting it ready on the ramp for 20 mins. Maybe I'm a picky person.
tippett7 Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Slobs are fly fisherman with no class. Some might refer to them as shufflers, you know people who are uneducated so they shuffle their feet and catch fish 1 foot in front of them. Woo Hoo what a thrill. Also slobs are people who see you catching fish and then come w/i 5 feet of you and start fishing the same hole, hoping they will catch some of your luck. I don't see it very often but you will find most slobs in the outlets or rebar hole.

I dislike the aforementioned boaters - especially the ones that will come within a few feet of waders without even slowing down. I've almost been hit several times!! Also dislike the shufflers and those that crowd you when you are successful. Fortunately they are in the minority (both). 99.9 % of fly fisherman are not shufflers and keep a respectable distance. Most of the boaters are courteous too. As with anything there are a few jerks that can ruin any given day.
