A few days ago I meet with a good friend and picked up my new G2 fly rod. Since this was the first batch of the new fly rods I really did not know what to expect. I opened the rod tube and pulled the pieces out one at a time and all I can say is WOW what a Beautiful rod. My rod has a gray blank with blue wraps and siler thread. The smoke gray skeletal reel seat with a maple insert truly sets this rod apart from any other rods I have owned. The next step was to hurry and get home so I could cast this beauty. The rod being a mid-flex took me awhile to get used to since my other rods are a tip flex but I quickly got in tune with the rod and was making 50ft cast pretty easy. I do feel that I had the wrong line on my reel for this rod and will be trying the classic cortland 444 on it next. I did get a afternoon on the Spring River and the rod was a like a wand in my hand. I caught and released 15 stockers that afternoon and the rod preformed very well. If you would like to see the new g2 fly rods just go to www.g2rods.com. Click on the flyrod and then select freshwater or saltwater and then build the rod of your dreams. You select blank color, wrap color and thread color and also the reel seat type you want. Great flyrod for the money. Now I am trying to figure out which one to order next.
