Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Lake level 868.1 Water temp 80 Walleye are biting excellent on jigs and night crawlers in 14 foot of water. I took out a trips on thursday, friday, and saturday and they all had limits of walleye. We caught over 30 fish on wed, but there were lots of little fish about 14" long. Use your electronics to locate the fish then mark the location with a bouy. The walleye are following the shad for the most part, so if you mark a school of shad drop down to them. Try to keep your bait on the bottom to stay out of the bass that are feeding on the shad. Crappie are being caught in brush piles in 15-20 foot of water. Use minnows or jigs and work it just above or to the side of the brush piles. Again, you will have to use your electronics to find the brush, then mark it and work the area until you find the fish. Bass fishing has been great! It took 19 lbs to win thursday night and they had 2 fish over 6 lbs. Locate brush piles and fish jigs or plastics thru the brush. Try fishing them from different angles depending on water current. Catfishing is excellent on mud flats in 10-20 foot of water on shad. Let the wind drift your boat across the flat to locate fish. Hunter75 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 are you finding the walleye on points or on the flats?
Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 You know I really hate to tell you the answer to that, but here it goes. Most of what I have been catching have been on the flats or long tapering points. Haven't had much luck on the deeper points. If you go out fishing, just look for the groups of boats! Everytime I go out we end up with 4-5 boats around, but there are lots of fish. Going out in the morning so if you are out give me a call.
