Brian Sloss Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Got out Monday and Tuesday and the fishing was quite good. Monday I went out with the winner of the auction trip, Larry and his buddy from Hargroves, Craig. It was a pleasure to be out there with those guys.Fishing was particularly good in the morning and just good in the afternoon with a couple of slower periods. Lots of fish caught though.Stoneflies, eggs and crawdads worked well fished deep. A "psycho legged" squirrel nymph that Craig brought tore them up as well, as did the Carl's crawdad that Larry brought. I think I might start carrying them if I can. Three wild fish were in the mix including a 16-17 incher. Great guys and a fun day. Thanks again for everything Larry. Tuesday we did well also. A couple of novices from the boothill, Steve and CP went out. Eggs did the trick as did the Don's crawdad fished deep again. Took a while to get the hang of landing fish, but plenty of fish landed and a pleasant day. A good time was had by all. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Members FH&S Posted July 15, 2009 Members Posted July 15, 2009 Brian, From what I've read over the past couple of weeks seems as though the fishing has been pretty solid. Jeff Simms & I will be getting into town late Tuesday afternoon. Staying at the motel for the night. We will be at your store on Wednesday morning. Looking forward to our overnight trip & hoping to catch some fish. Ryan gave me some advice on what should be used for ultralight setups. We are planning to float/fish from Greer to Riverton with a Thursday afternoon takeout. Looking to camp around Turner's or Stinking Pond. Looking for advice on a gravelbar campsite that will provide some fishing opportunities as well. The rest of the crew will arrive in Alton on Thursday afternoon. Can't wait to get back up there..... Any ideas on the campsite??? Thanks, Brad Harralson
Brian Sloss Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 1st gravel bar below Turner on right side is good. It is directly across from stinking pond. Great camp site there. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Members 16caddis Posted July 17, 2009 Members Posted July 17, 2009 Brian, Thanks for a great trip. You are the hardest working guide I've floated with. Having the right fly is one thing....having someone point out the best spots and put you in a position to make the cast is another. Including the pain in the butt spot you walked us through where the big wild hen was hooked. And you didn't even give me any trouble when I snarled/hung up my nymph rig for the tenth time. Thanks for being a steward of our trout waters!! Tight loops. Craig Stephens p.s. To everyone that hasn't floated and/or fished this stream it is the most beautiful undeveloped stream in the Ozarks in my humble opinion...with apologies to the Upper Jacks Fork in the Spring.....
