If anyone knows of good spots to catch catfish in southwestern MO I would like to know. I have always wanted to start cafishing but have never known where to start!

Just where is SW Missouri are you looking at fishing? There is some astounding catfish waters down this way.

Are you looking at limblining or rod and reel?

Stockton Lake.

Fellows would be a good place, and in reality the whole north side is pretty much easy access.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I am more of a river fisherman. The Sac River anywhere from below Stockton dam to where it dumps into Truman near Osceola is some really great river catfishing. And hang on, there are some brutes in there! You might also check out the Osage River too. Also has some nice fish in there.

Don't over look James River. Spring River near Carthage and to the west has some fantastic catfishing. It is fun to float and hit the holes for flathead. Turnback creek near Greenfield is pretty dang good too.

Really though, just about any river/stream in this area has some good catfishing. Just get out a map, plan a trip and hang on!

Agreed. Check out Joe Chrighton access on the james, near Battlefield and 65. I've grown up calling it "Pecker's Beach". Not many people fish there, but it's close and it's LOADED with cats. One problem we run into are monster crawdads taking our bait. if you see a bobber go under slowly, you've got a 'dad. Sometimes you can reel them all the way up onto shore with them just hangin' on to your hook, being stubborn. My buddy caught one as long as his shoe (sz. 10) earlier this summer. We always fish with livers, and hot summer nights are the best.
