dave potts Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Im a little confused. I'm planning to fish Beaver tailwater immeadiately below the dam and am not sure if this area is restricted to barbless flies or not. One site I saw said the new regulations require barbless hooks for bait fishing but are barbless hooks required for regular flies? Thanks for any info Dave
Guest flyfishBDS Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Gday Dave, saw you signed up for the newsletter good deal. Don't worry your not the only one confused about the new regulations. But really for fly fishing there is basically no difference if you catch and release As oif January 1 1. 13-16 inch slot limit . All trout between 13-16 inches must be released. Immediately. 2. Daily creel limits remains at 5. Only one trout may be over 16 inches. 3. Single barbless hook restriction on bait fishing although bait holder barbs are allowed. Flies or other atificials can be barbed outside the "no-bait" zone 4. From the Dam to Houseman, possession of trout within the slot limit will not be allowed. 5. The Current C&R area is converted to a "no-bait" zone where only single barbless artificial lures may be used. Chumming not allowed. Slot limit applies here as well. 6. Trout permit required from Beaver Dam to Houseman or to retain any trout in any state waters. 7. Other statewide regulations are unchanged from state regulations. Hoep this was soon enough so you had the info before your trip. Also unless you have wading/mobility issues I'd advocate not fishing immediately below the dam. Drop into the Store and I'll tell you some of the spots to catch more & better fish and more importantly without getting a lump of lead and a nightcrawler in the back of your head Cheers
dave potts Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 Thanks for the info. Exactly where is your store located. I'll be coming from Rogers, AR where my son now lives. Plan on coming next week if they get enough rain as my son and I are planning to float the upper Buffalo if there is enough water in it. Dave
Guest flyfishBDS Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 Gday Dave when your coming from Roger go through Garfield and Gateway, come down the twisty bit and look for the signs for Dam Site. Its a RIGHT hand turn onto 187. Go up over the hill and down the bottom. we are on the left. Gas, beer, convenience plus a real flyshop Look forward to having a yarn Steve
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I havent seen the new flyshop yet - but I will also say this shop has always and will always be a great fly shop for all your needs. Do not hesitate to stop by (and maybe even buy!) Anything happening in Dinosaur now ? Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Guest flyfishBDS Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Hey Brian, sorry been off for a few days. Fishing hard. I need to come back to work for a break, trout whities smallies, its crazy. Ok Dinosair World has been closed for the past year, and probably for the forseeable future. The owner was ill last year and has it on the market. Cheers
