Chasing The Big Ones

hello everyone,new user lifelong fisherman.ive been fishing the lower Osage about 3 miles down from the dam in numerous locations primarily for catfish primarily at night and can say that something has to give.We have had plenty of small channel cat and some 1-2 lb blues but no bigger ones on rod and real or trot line.a 25 lb spoonbill on worms ( wish it was in season)but still a first in my book and a 30 lb carp.cats have all been in shallow water or near bluffs in coves and creeks. i know they are going to come off their nests soon but not soon enough.Does anyone out there have any tips for catching big cats?
