Members LarryC Posted July 21, 2009 Members Posted July 21, 2009 Starting Friday the Corp will be running the generators continuously to drop the lake 5 foot or so. This should sit up a current. How will the striper bite be effected? Will they concentrate in any particular area? Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.

How will the striper bite be effected? Will they concentrate in any particular area? Good question -- you would think that they would be drawn to the current and head closer to the dam, but its hard to tell. Were going to be down there Friday evening and Saturday around the Lost Bridge South area, hopefully it doesnt shut the bite down! Dad got 5 last weekend around the Rambo area. SK
Members LarryC Posted July 22, 2009 Author Members Posted July 22, 2009 Yes...generators will run continuously from Friday until Aug 1, than 12 hours daily until the lake hits 1,120 foot. The lake will drop about 6" every day. It's part of there flood control plan. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
Members CBNMO Posted July 23, 2009 Members Posted July 23, 2009 Great. I'm sure it will make the fishing better for me anyway. Not going to be any worse. Stripers are ahead, 3-0.
Zack Hoyt Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 As of yesterday, they had not started the 24/7 running of the generators. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Samkam1 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Hopefully that current will get them stirred up and biting around the dam or lost bridge this weekend...they have so much shad to eat that they're finicky unless you have some good threadfin or gizzards in the bait tank :-) I think the bigger fish are hainging out in the deep water eating the scraps that fall down from the little ones. Members LarryC Posted July 24, 2009 Author Members Posted July 24, 2009 Just got in from cleaning fish. Started at the water intake by Starkey and worked my way up stream to Rocky Branch. Marked a lot of fish by the intake and also at point 5 but didn't catch nuthin until I got to Rocky Branch. 25' down and they like Bomber Long A's. This was a quick getaway...I didn't have time to get bait. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
catman Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I went across the dam today at 2 PM and they weren't blowing any water as of yet. I was born at night, but not last night. Odds are with the prepared...
