there is still bites coming from heavy cover on the bank .. soft plastics like lizards, tube jigs, craws, worms all seems to catch fish equally. These fish are not very aggresive . The deep bite has been difficult to locate but it is there, any slower retrieve lures like a d22 worked like a jerkbait , a slow rolled spinner bait , or once again soft plastics at or around 15-35 ft of water have produced some good fish.. the reason for such a wide range is in part to do with ever changing conditions. The bass are scattered and hard to find in schools, if they are schooled and you do find them it is just a matter of moments before they vanish.

The best fishing can be found by floating entire banks and fishing everything from the ledge on the outside to the cover on the inside, there is absolutely no reason to motor around because as I said before they are scattered . If your planning a bass fishing trip to fellows wait for stable conditions (2 sunny days , 2 rainy days w/e ) . Look for major changes , coves leading to points , the back of coves , fish attractors .. and fish slowwwwwwww.

IF .. you do find fish schooled your best bet is to put the ones you catch in your livewell until the school is gone and then release them back .. a freaked out bass

will run a school of bass off quick..

If you're looking for an abundance of muskie, I would drive 30 miles north of Fellows to a little lake called Pomme De Terre.

I don't usually have awesome luck on fellows, fishing for anything.

you can catch muskie there , just dont do it the same way everyone else does it . trolling the lake like a race track has never provided much of anything in my favor . try in-line spinners , big plugs , big crankbaits and jerkbaits all along the spawn areas where fish are moving in and out all day. both of the eastern tips of the lake are places where fish move in and out all day to feed, try the points and the deeper waters around these places. I dont see very many ppl come out with muskie when they are trying though , and the biggest i have caught was while bass fishing with a 1$ spinnerbait (22lbs) pics on this site . its called the fish of 10,000 casts for a reason though .. out of 43,981 casts i have only gotten 3 :P

That's why i don't regularly fish for them.....although I have snagged a couple of small ones while bass fishing.

Call me short attention spanned, but I don't have the patience for muskie.

I imagine landing a 22lber though might change my mind.

Amp, did u measure the 22lb fish? would like to know how long it was to compare it. Dan, im a long time bowhunting in heart, so waiting for the right one is not a new idea to me...if the possiblility is there for a big one, i can wait.

^ Its highly unlikely that you will find a muskie in Fellows. The only ones I've seen or heard of pulled out from Fellows, which was only 3, were all caught by accident while fishing for white bass or largemouths. Fellows seems to be pretty dead everytime I hit it up.

I wouldn't say that. I fished fellows for about a year with one of my buddy who bought a small tracker. Ive seen about five muskie in that year two of them being 40-45 inchers. Which were not landed both times they ate a spinnerbait and broke my line. Two others followed baits back to the boat. And One of them ate a smithwick jerkbait in the winter. i got him in and was prolly about 30-35 inches long. Took a good thirty minutes to land him on eight pound line. Ill try to find the pic i have of it and post it. I also seen one eat a snake in the summer out there which was really cool to see. The lake is full of them, You need to find out when there most aggresive time of the years is and throw some big spinner baits and you should hook up . Three out of the five times the fish were located in the weeds back by the courtesy dock.

I understand patience for the big one...

I have gone out bass fishing literally hundreds upon hundreds of times in my life...I understand how hard it can be to snag that big one. Out of every 200-300 bass I may only catch one or two 5 pound plus...

but it sure is nice to have something else to do between big bass.

Unlike muskie...in which you could go out 4 times and never get a bite, then on your fifth time...catch nothing but a small one.

That method of fishing falls more under the definition of torture, rather than patience.

I am new to the web. Ihave been fishing fellows for alot of years. If you want to catch muskies you need to fish on rainy overcast days. My partner and I have caught as many as 12 in a day. several of them being over the 25lb plus range. I through spinerbaits, big jerkbaits in the weeds. GOOD LUCK
