Terry Beeson Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Recently, a rare occasion of my lovely wife and I being off on the same day without a teenager in the house prompted us to find a nice spot to have lunch. We moved to Nixa three years ago and have driven by Chez Robert's numerous times promising to try it out. Well, this was the day we decided to take the plunge. All I can say is GREAT!!! The restaurant is located on 14/Mt Vernon across from Sonic. It is in an old house that has been renovated. Now I'm not a big fan of atmosphere, but this does have a nice one. Your wife or SO will love it. Several rooms are set up for dining. Since it was lunch, it was the Melinda's Tea Room menu we got to choose from. It is made up of soups, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. I ordered a wrap while my wife ordered a sandwich. Both came with tea, a side (potato salad, chips, or pasta salad) and the soup. Soon we had a "mug" of bacon potato soup that was hot, fresh, and homemade. Some of the BEST potato soup I've ever had. Our order was a bit slow arriving, but mind you we had come after the lunch rush. My wrap had angel hair pasta as an ingrediant, and they informed me that it would be a bit due to the fact that they had run out of cooked pasta and had to boil another batch. Well, it was certainly worth the wait. The pasta salad was not from a bucket ro a box, and the wrap was very fresh and very VERY tasty. When done, we were both full and could not try the wonderful looking cakes or cookies that were on display. These are also made from scratch by Robert (or so I was told.) But we will have to go back and save room for them next time. And that next time will be soon. So, if you're looking for somewhere to take your wife or girlfriend for a nice romantic lunch or dinner that will be a treat to her, I recommend you try this little place and see if she's not impressed with your taste... zander Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Yeah the place is great, the food may be a bit pricey but boy it is good. And Terry is right on the money, the women will love it.
Terry Beeson Posted July 22, 2009 Author Posted July 22, 2009 We got a great meal with all the trimmings (lunch) for $20 including the tip... Now the dinner menu might be a little higher... But the food is worth it... zander Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Yeah we went for dinner, and it is not super pricey, just a bit of an eyeball bouncer when looking at the menu at first, but I could not finish my food and I desperately wanted to. We were the only ones in there at the time, so the chef came out and talked with us and we got tons of the most delicious homemade Italian kind of bread.
Paola Cat Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Awesome ... will try it out next time down in that area. Sounds fantastic. I'm confident that the better half will enjoy it .... PC. Cheers. PC
