Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Stockton Lake Fishing Report 06/24/2009 Water temp 80 Walleye have been biting good on 1/8 oz to ¼ oz jig heads with night crawlers on main lake flats and points. Use the wind to drift across the points in 15-22 foot of water. There are lots of bluegill so you will have to move deeper or shallower if you start catching them. The walleye should be close by. Bass have been biting on plastic worms and jigs in 15-20 foot of water in main lake brush piles. It took 19 lbs to win Thursday evening. You will have to become familiar with your electronics and locate the brush piles then back off and cast into them. You will also need to use 20 lb line or a braided line or you will lose the fish in the brush. When you get one of these bigger fish on try to keep them up as best you can and keep them out of the trees. Crappie have been biting great, but lost of smaller fish. About a 10-1 ratio of small to big. If you get in the right place you can get a nice mess of crappie. Again they are in about 20 foot of water in the brush piles and are hitting on jigs and minnows. Catfish have been excellent on main lake flats with fresh shad. Lots of fish and lots of fun for the kids. Just let the wind drift your boat across the flats in 10-19 foot of water then move back up and go again. You shouldn’t have any trouble catching some catfish for dinner. White bass have been surfacing around the googer area. I have haven’t seen them anyplace else, but they should be doing the same thing other places. Throw small rattle traps into the surfacing fish and have some fun. Hope this helps everyone a little bit. Good luck and give me a call if you need any help.
