Free Font Downloads

I'm working on a little side project and am looking for a specific font that I don't have. However, I found it on one of those "free font" websites. Now, how do I get it to download to where it can be used? I've tried a couple different ways but it never ends up going to where I can use it...

Make any sense? HELP PLEASE!!! Thanks...
