zander Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I have a pointer mix that is about 8 months old. I got him to be a pet for my son, but he has started to show more and more ability hunting, catching birds and pointing them in the yard. Does anybody know of a reasonably priced gun dog trainer in SWMO?
Members AZ_Trout Posted July 30, 2009 Members Posted July 30, 2009 Not in SWMO --but NWMO just above the KC Area -- Cosby MO -- The Gun Dog School of Missouri (gundogofmo.com) -- disclaimer - Les is my little brother, but he has a way with the dogs, and has sent dogs all over the country. Heck you might be able to convince him to do a Branson Springfield trip - vacation and then he could truck the dog back up. He hunts -- I fish -- never does match up. Thighlines & Singing Reels
Members yeehaw Posted August 1, 2009 Members Posted August 1, 2009 Alot depends on what you consider reasonable prices. Most people I find that aren't used to dog trainers are shocked at how much it costs...........I know my duck dog costs about $500 a month and that is about average if not somewhat cheap. I do believe that upland dogs are cheaper than that for training. I'll give ya the name of my trainer. He trains both pointers and labs, he loves duck hunting but he is some sorta award winning dog trainer for pointers. I never really cared about his upland prowess cuz there ain't alot of upland game to keep my attention. Give him a call if you want and he can talk to ya about your options, who he knows in SWMO (cuz he's in NEMO), tips for what to expect from a trainer, all that good stuff. Biggest thing you need is to be able to talk to someone about what all of this entails, how much it costs, what is required of you, and whether or not you really want to do it. He'll tell ya what you need to know and the phone call doesn't cost ya anything. I've send dozens of people to him from around the country and everyone has been impressed. Tell him that Chris sent ya and said he's a lil girl and a shoddy dog trainer! Windy Ridge Kennels Rick Roy 573-267-3775
