brittsnbirds Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Arrived at BSSP on Tuesday last week. Was amazed of the number of people there. I usually land the TT in campground 5 with no problem. Picking a good campground was tough. I got lucky and found a great spot and got set up in the rain. Headed down Wednesday morning and started hitting my favorite spots except just above the Holland dam, too busy. My biggest producing technique was stripping cracklebacks on sink tip line. Brown and Rusty Zebra midges were pretty good in the high bank area. I managed to draw 1 riser last night on a hopper just below the hollan dam in the slack water. That was my only riser. And I stand corrected from previous posts. Most of the fish I caught were quality fish. As far as weather goes it could not have been better. Water was very clear and slow. I am very suprised of the change in the stream bed. The hole just above the dam is 1/2 the size. There are places up river (Island area) where you can actually wade to the far side. I observed a couple of Conservation fella's in a truck checking out the situation above the dam last night. Hopefully they are thinking about dredging out some of the gravel. If they don't then the stripping hole will be no more if we have more floods like we did this year. All in all a good trip. Pat
Paola Cat Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hey Pat .... sounds like a good trip and some significant changes to the stream. The deep CB stripping guys must be doing a lot of complaining. What did you think of the high bank? Same old high bank or not for numbers? PC/Mike Cheers. PC
NoLuck Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hey Pat, Sounds like a crowded but good trip. I really wanted to get down last weekend but I had to work Saturday morning from 5am till 11:30am. The paychecks have been nice though. I just cannot believe that you have to get there on a Weds or Thurs to get a decent camp spot. I guess it's time to start looking for some place close to Bennett that has elec hookup and a decent shaded spot. Did you try an orange CB?? Also my P&P is the same as yours. I just have a variant without the pearl tinsel and wrapped in v-rib instead of wire. Hey PC, The highbank hole has changed somewhat this year. That deeper hole that used to be where the 2 poles on down has been filled in somewhat. Also, the hole before the bend after the creek inlet filled in some too. Cya guys, Rich

Cya guys, Rich Actually it appears most of all the park has either filled in or changed somewhat.
