Members Wrath Posted August 5, 2009 Members Posted August 5, 2009 So I'm finally gettting back into my fishing game and I'd like to go after trout on Taney this weekend and some smallies somewhere yet undetermined. I assume that the night bite is the usual for this time of year on Taney for trout? What's happening during the daytime? Terrestrials mostly? Also, can anyone recommend a good river to wade fish for smallies during the day? I'll be chasing smallies and trout with the flyrod probably exclusively. I'll be coming from the St. Louis area, so anything between there and Branson would be great. Also, any predictions on what's gonna happen this fall for the brown trout run? Last year was a bust due to the warm water from what I saw and heard. Hopefully I'll get to know some Saint Louis folks here on this site to fish with eventually, depending on how long I'm living in the area. So far, so good.

Both are good smallie streams.
tippett7 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 You will catch more fish in the day than at night if you know what you are doing.

Leonard Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Hey wrath.. Good to see your heading this way.. Not much happening here for the "BIG" boy.... there is a few nice one (low 20in range).. I think the spot for you would be Meramec River or even the Current River... a couple miles below Baptist... But if you get over this way and want to rip a few shot... if anything when can spend the evening throw monster flies to get in some practice... Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
