Headed over to Bennet on Friday evening after getting off work. We had planned on leaving at 8:00 a.m. when I got off work, but we had another medic call in sick so I didn't get to leave until almost 3:00 p.m. Lucky for us we got the last campsite available in the campground #5.

We got up early and headed to the stream. Fished in zone 1 from the Holland darn down to the riffles just past the last fishing jetty. The fishing was pretty good but rain and storms moved in mid morning. I stayed and fished until it started with the lightening. Decided water and strong electric bolts didn't go together. We waited out the weather and it cleared up just after noon. Fished until almost 5:30 p.m. The heavy winds moved in and made it difficult but you could still fish.

The fishing got tougher after the rain and when the storms were over the crowds came out. All in all it was a good day. Of course, any day fishing is a good day! Total for the day: 10 rainbows and one blue gill. The biggest bow was 15". The rest I'd say were average size (10-12 inches). The best fly for the weekend: a #18 zebra midge hands down! Followed by an olive dubbed jig w/ brown marabou tail. I had only made three of these and they didn't last long. I had tried a new idea and it seems to work. I guess it's time to get back to the tying bench.
