Members hunter@heart Posted August 12, 2009 Members Posted August 12, 2009 My 12 yr son and myself are going to give the Eleven Point another try on Friday. Last trip got cancelled because of a big rain. I am looking forward to floating the river, catching some nice trout, watching my son catch alot of fish (hopefully), and getting to spend a great day on the river with my son by ourselves. This will be his first float flyfishing trip. He has gone flyfishing with me before, but we have never done the float trip before. He is very excited and so am I. Hope to have a report for you after Friday. Matt
Forsythian Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Way to go Matt... I'm anxious to hear about your experience. I have a 14 year old son, and like yours he has flyfished at the parks and the tailwaters, but I've yet to take him on the 11pt. I hope to change that this October, when we plan to spend 2 days on the stretch from Greer to Turner. Best of luck to you and your boy. Ken Cenosillicaphobiac

The bonus is that the scenery is truly world class.
Members hunter@heart Posted August 15, 2009 Author Members Posted August 15, 2009 Well, we had a great trip. Didn't just wear the fish out, but Kalum got to catch plenty. Left at around 8 a.m. and got to Turner's around 6 pm. The weather was great and the river as beautiful. Kalum and I had a great day. He probably go to land a dozen or more nice trout. No monsters, but they were around 14 inches. We caught every fish on an egg pattern, though we were fishing with both stoneflies and crawdad patterns as well. We fished pretty hard. I spent the first half of the day just letting Kalum fish while I helped him work his casting and presentation. He really got a blast out of doing by himself the last half of the day with no help from Dad. Again, we got a canoe from Brian at Eleven Point Canoe Rental. He runs a great operation. Tito at the shop even gave me one of his crawdad patterns he had tied to try out. Brian and a guide trip on the river and we passed by him early in the day. Even with paying customers he gave us some tips on what to use and what to do when we went by. Brian is really a first class guy. I really appreciated the information since I wanted this to be a great day for my son. Just couldn't ask for a better day. Here are some photos from the trip. pic 1 pic 2 pic 3 pic 4

There are plenty of fish, and the scenery is the best you'll find in the midwest. By far.
