hfdhoosier Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 Fishing was tough in the park, water was crystal clear and slow moving in the fly area. Caught fish but really had to work at it. Switch up flies often, rarely caught more than one fish without switching flies. caught fish on griffiths gnat, red zebra midge with black ribbing, pheasant tail nymph, red copper john, white thread jig, deer hair caddis, and adams dry fly. Only fished the fly area in the park. Went outside the park and caught a nice 17 inch bow, on a deer hair caddis, midday. Members JONBOY Posted August 25, 2009 Members Posted August 25, 2009 What size of flies were you using? ... from what I have been reading the smaller the better. Novice Fly fisher.
hfdhoosier Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 small dry flies 18-22, larger nymphs 14-16 Some guy I talked to said 18 tricos, didnt have any trico dries, 20 griffiths gnat fooled some of them into biting. hope this helps Dennis Eat, Fish, Sleep,....Repeat Member: ozarkflyfishers http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/
