Members ColeM. Posted August 25, 2009 Members Posted August 25, 2009 Looking for some ponds / small lakes that I can take the better half fishing. Any information is greatly appreciated!
rps Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 The ponds I fished in Tulsa as a boy are now surrounded by big houses. Southern Hills also has stopped allowing people to fish their golf course ponds. Try this, though: Go up to Claremore and fish their water supply lake. Old lake with timber flats in the top end. Good LM and catfish. Hardly anyone fishes it. Another choice is Bixhoma out near Bixby. Clearer water but also good. Good luck.

Members ColeM. Posted August 25, 2009 Author Members Posted August 25, 2009 Thanks fellas, I was looking more for first hand knowledge of the local ponds. I have known about the above link, looks like we have some exploring to do.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I used to have tons of access to farm ponds all around my house here just outside of Mannford...couda provided you with enough places to fish for a month straight! But...2 of the landowners passed away so the land was sold by their kids to people who won't let you fish there anymore. The other 2 landowners have leased out the property to people to run their cattle on...and now won't allow to me to fish their ponds. What happened to the good ol' days when you could ask anyone to fish anywhere and they just didn't care....it really sucks... Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Members ColeM. Posted August 25, 2009 Author Members Posted August 25, 2009 I hear you Chance, in Texas I had access to a ton of private lakes, but now that I am in Tulsa and I have nothing. How have you been? I have been super busy and traveling so I havent got to do much fishing lately. 2 weeks ago on my way back from a trip to Dallas, I decided to make a pit stop on the Lower Mountain Fork and do some fishing for a couple of hours, well as mother nature would have it, it rained the entire time I was there, but I did managed to hook a couple of them. Talked to a couple of other fly flingers and they were having a tough time as well.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 How have you been? I have been super busy and traveling so I havent got to do much fishing lately. Things have been good, been fishing a lot! Next time I go fish, I'll shoot you a text and we'll go fish. I've been going on monday mornings to the lower illinois. Didn't get to go yesterday. I'm going up to Grand Lake this weekend to our lake-house and fish with my dad saturday evening and sunday morning. Thinking about sneaking over to Roaring River sunday afternoon to fish some beetles and grasshoppers. Might camp out sunday night and fish monday....maybe... Didn't get to fish or play golf this weekend so I'm having withdrawels! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
