Members kux99 Posted August 25, 2009 Members Posted August 25, 2009 I have a trip coming up in the second weekend of September down to the White River. We will be staying at the Rainbow Drive Resort again. I need to prepare and some advice on what flies to tie in advance. Last year I did the best stripping olive wooly buggers. I also caught several on san juans, hares ears, pheasant tails, zebra midges, and y2k. Any suggestions on dry flies? What flies to get them bigger browns or rainbows? Is the water going to be wadeable? Thanks in advance.
John Berry Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 The hot fly lately has been black zebra midges. The only top water action has been on grasshoppers. The lakes are near pool and I expect there to be some wadable water. John Berry OAF CONTRIBUTOR Fly Fishing For Trout (870)435-2169 http://www.berrybrothersguides.com berrybrothers@infodash.com
tippett7 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I don't dry fly a lot but when I do a crackleback always brings in fish down there. As much as they hit on zebra midges, I'm sure a soft hackle with some ribbing would do the trick. Try black thread with a small silver wire.
