Just thought I'd share a bit of interesting (photographic) news with the group, as well as ask a question. I received an email last night notifying me that my entry into the Photographic Society of Northwest had won the 'Travel' category of the 8th Annual Fall Fair Contest. While I'm not big on contests, photographic or otherwise (this is my first time to even enter a photography contest), nevertheless I am pleased. I'm also thinking about joining this organization in January. Is anyone on this board a current member of the PSNWA? It seems like a neat organization and was just curious if others could tell me more about it. Thanks in advance. Below is my entry. It, along with the winners from the 13 other categories will be displayed at the Benton County Fair in a couple of weeks.

I'm not familiar with the Photographic Society Northwest, however, about 60 years ago when I first became interrested in Photography I learned a lot from a similar society. It was the Photographic Society of America at that time. I don't remember if we had regional groups at that time. We submitted prints to an experienced moderator who cretiqued them. Then this group of prints was circulated to each person, who had submitted prints, for their comments. This was a great learning experience for me.

I'm sure you will really enjoy the experience and learn a lot about the basics of good picture taking. I still have several of those original prints and comments of my pictures.

Thanks Roland! You know I think they are a regional group for the Photographic Society of America. I know they have monthly contests and speakers too. I guess it would be a group you'd want to join if you wanted your photos critiqued and reviewed so as to learn to improve. Not sure that's what I want to do, but I think I'll check it out and see what they're all about.
