Members jkilroy Posted August 31, 2009 Members Posted August 31, 2009 Hi, I'd like to wade fish the Norfolk and what I'd like to know is where are the public access points and the special regs area. I know of the river runner access, is there any more? John Killinger
DaddyO Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Go to Quarry Park at the base of Norfork Dam. When you pull into the parking lot, stay to the left and it will take you to a parking lot down at the river's edge. If you walk over the the top left of the parking lot, you will see a walk bridge that crosses over a creek that is feeding into the river. That creek is Dry Run Creek. You cannot fish upstream of that walk bridge unless you are 15 and under or handicapped. I may be off on the age. There are plenty of wade in access points to the Norfork river in this general area from the parking lot upstream and downstream. If the siren sounds, get off of the river, immediately. It rises very quickly. DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Don Allenbaugh Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 The bridge over Dry Run is gone, it was removed several months ago. Don A

Danoinark Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Is there any C&R areas? Yes, go to the handicapped access, called the Ackerman access, walk up stream a few hundred yards and the sign is posted for the c and r section. Be mindful of the river rise though. The handicapped / Ackerman access is a road just left as you enter the town of Norfork. There is a sign posted. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

Danoinark Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Is that right off of HWY 5? River ridge access? If I recall correctly, its the same access road off of Hwy 5 as River Ridge. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Samkam1 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 There are some some great wade fishing areas if you head west towards the town of Norfork. THere is a nice spot to fish right there by the junction of the white and north fork. SK
Members jkilroy Posted September 2, 2009 Author Members Posted September 2, 2009 I drove by near there on Sunday on my way to Rim Shoals, I was driving on Hwy 5. That would be a little closer. Is the fishing there as good as rim shoals? A bunch of people that were fishing the Norfork sunday came to fish rim shoals due to generation. I guess the fishing was better on the Norfork. I don't know \, I never fished it. JK
