Members GeeDub56 Posted September 14, 2009 Members Posted September 14, 2009 Wife, Mom, and I just got back from a GREAT weekend on the White. We got to Gassville around noon Thursday, checked into our hotel, then headed to Wally-World in Mt. Home for licenses and a few last minute supplies. Headed back and went straight to Hurst's to check in with Jamie and confirm everything for Friday. It was the first time I'd met Jamie face-to-face, and feel very comfortable testifying that he's as crazy as we are! We felt right at home. We were sorry we missed Miss Mary (Jamie's mom--we'd met her last time) but we were told we'd see her Saturday for sure. Back to Mt. Home for a bite to eat (North Forty makes a KILLER burger) and then back to the hotel to TRY to get some sleep. I was up waaaaay before the chickens Friday morning( I couldn't help it--I was like a kid at Christmas) and sat around drinking coffee til the girls got up. They finally dragged out and after grabbing some breakfast at the Golden Arches, we headed for the river. I'd really thought we might beat Elvin Dale to the ramp. Yeah, right. Anyway, loaded up, and hit the water. FINALLY!!!! The weather was perfect, the river was gorgeous, and the company was hospitable. I could have not thrown a hook in the water and been satisfied. However, since we did have a few rods with us, might just as well use'em, right? And use'em we did!!! After a while, I kinda felt bad for Elvin. We kept that ol' boy hoppin' all day. He really seemed to enjoy it. though. My wife Debbie caught a nice 17 inch Brown. That was fun, watching her. A couple of pics and back he went. All in all a terrific start to our 2 day adventure. Oh, I almost forgot...2 words...SHORE LUNCH!!!! It's hard to believe that those shore lunches are legal, they are soooo good, and it's almost not fair that you get so full of great food and then have to go BACK fishing!!!!! We all could have done a nap right there on the river bank. We finished the day and I have to say that it was one of, if not THE best day I ever had fishing...anywhere. Well, this is long enough, I'll submit more tomorrow. I'll have to be sure and tell y'all about the black eagles we saw "It's not a hobby, it's an obsession."

Friday the water was a little higher, Saturday would have been the day for wading...zero generation all day and we were told that the Corp had shut it off at midnight thae night before. Ther was just enough water to easeover the shoals, but it got pretty skinny by the days end. "It's not a hobby, it's an obsession."
