Members kcbear Posted October 26, 2009 Members Posted October 26, 2009 So-- I'm trying to work out a short trip this coming Saturday/Sunday to do a little bass fishin, but you guys make it sound like maybe I should be going after walleye or crappie. I know the weather has been funky in the KC area as well, but was hoping that Stockton might still surrender some decent bass catching. Why do you think it is slow right now-- high water? changing temperatures? goofy weather? Do you think another 5-6 days of on again, off again rain and up and down air temps will make it stay slow? Are you able to locate fish, but they just aren't interested? The walleye reports sound decent, but I really like catching bass!

The last few weeks have been terrible for us... and I can't speak for other species-- just Bass. The water is high-- I can never figure out Stockton when the water is up. Water temps have dropped dramatically lately-- temps down in the mid 50s now... which is an okay temp, but they have dropped quickly. ALOT of color in many of the areas I like to fish-- many areas of the lake look like coffee with cream, and some areas look like Jack Daniel's Whiskey (very strange color for lake water, indeed)... don't get me wrong, I like Jack Daniel's well enough-- but not to fish in. Believe it or not... the areas that we have done the best (best, but still not good by any means) in lately have been the ones with the coldest and dirtiest water... figure that one out!! If you are coming down to Stockton, I wish you luck. I hope you do better than we did the last couple of weeks... we're going down to Table Rock this weekend to try our luck instead.
