Can anyone tell me if the flow schedule has been on time lately? I'd like to come up in a day or two and don't want to arrive if the water is cranking. Thought some of u guys that are regulars would have a good idea. Thanks in advance.

It's been kinda hit or miss. They ususally do a pretty good job of keeping to the schedule. However the schedule, in my opinion, has not been such that I would make a trip just to fish it. You'd probably only have a couple of hours, at most, of fishable water. Here's the link if you don't have it already.

Last week I fished in the morning from 6am until 3pm. I had my kayak with me and decided to head to Gore landing to check it out, well I fished upstream and downstream with ease while they were generating. I had a blast and can't wait until this spring, I will be doing some striped bass fishing down there as much as I can. I want to break the 20lb mark on fly this year!

I want to add that if you do decide to kayak fish during the winter, you must take some precautionary measures in order to make sure you are safe while fishing/paddling. The last thing you want to happen is to get turned over somehow and drown in your waders or die from hypothermia. So use your head and plan ahead for the unexpected. If you fish Gore Landing, you must pay close attention to boat traffic up and down river.

My Nephew and I fished yesterday and caught 60 or more rainbows in a three hour period. It was a great day. We arrived around 8:30AM and the water was running. We had been calling the SWPA hotline for two days, but the information was unavailable. We chanced it anyway and headed out from Eufaula in hopes of low water conditions. After catching 5 nice size crappie on a jig and indicator, and a few small perch the horn sounded and the water started to drop. There were several other people showing up to the spot we were in, so we headed down river to the first pool. The trout went crazy for about and hour. We caught a bunch including 3 nice size 15 inches or more. We both caught and released over 30 fish a peice, and took our leaky waders to the truck. Cant wait to come back.

A friend of mine from work went down yesterday as well. We did really well. Caught a bunch in the hole right below the cable till about noon. Then moved to the parking lot a few hundred yards downstream and fished the far bank below the island the rest of the day. Caught fish on & off all day till the started generating again about 4pm.
