troutfiend1985 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 It's here!!!! I thought a poll would be a good starting topic. I fish mainly for bluegill on a fly rod, but I also go for bass on the fly rod. Anyways, looking forward to seeing the results. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
Randall Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I haven't really fished it but i really want to learn to target hybrids on the flyrod and I imagine it'll be possible this spring. Cute animals taste better.

Me too. You'll probably see me out there this spring. I see the hybrids chasing the shad around quite a bit. Hopefully I'll get one this spring. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Members Zach Beach Posted December 29, 2009 Members Posted December 29, 2009 Chesnut, What lake do you see the hybrids chasing the shad? I have only caught some in Bluestem. I caught some smaller ones on chicken liver under a bobber and landed about a 6 pounder on a shiner under a bobber. I have yet to catch them in any other lake and have most of my luck with the chicken liver. I would rather catch them on a lure but can't seem to find what they want. If the lakes weren't frozen over I would be out there as much as possible trying to catch some of the trout they have stocked.
Members Zach Beach Posted December 29, 2009 Members Posted December 29, 2009 Sorry in a hurry, I ment Troutfiend1985.
troutfiend1985 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Zach, I've seen them in Bodarc chasing shad. They get big too, or they srock them big, one or the other. “The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people” J. Brandeis
drew03cmc Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 They grow large in those lakes due to a large amount of forage. That is why there have been 10+ pound hybrids caught from JAR. Andy
Randall Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 How often do you go after them? I really want to get out there this spring after the disappointment I had at the Jacomo spillway last year. Cute animals taste better.
drew03cmc Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I haven't fished Coot in years, but I have caught bluegill, green sunfish, largemouth, wiper, rainbow and brown trout from Coot Lake. Andy
Randall Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Right on... well come late March or April I think I'll be going out there on the weekends to start getting a feel for the area. Anybody wants to go just give me a shout. Cute animals taste better.
