Members Fat Sucker Posted January 12, 2010 Members Posted January 12, 2010 Did pretty good this weekend on the ice. 6-8" of solid ice. No monsters caught, but decent activity. The high pressure front has really drove the fish to the bottom. Going to hit it again next weekend as long as there is ice! Fished 24 every day. Watched a lot of people come and go on the ice, most stayed for about 30 mins or less. Guess it was too cold for them! Anyone on here give it a shot? I went over to 23 Sunday afternoon around 1:30 and had my limit in about 2 hours. I agree that they seem to be on the bottom and deep. No big ones but all 4 were nice size fish - one of the biggest stringers I've had from Busch. 23 was pretty crowded - there were 14 other guys there when I arrived. Saw some other guys catch some but it was pretty slow. Enjoyed getting out and using my new auger - it worked great!!!
Members MnWalleyeGuy Posted January 18, 2010 Members Posted January 18, 2010 I went to 23 one day and it looked like a small circus with all the people, so I went back to 24. 1/32 tubes with Berkley Gulp waxies. Anything larger, and they would just peck at it. Fish had some serious high pressure issues. Put my ice stuff away, as this warm weather has done the ice in! Going to NE Minnesota to do more of the same. Inland trout season has started up there.

I've never used waxies before but have heard they can be killer. I was hoping to use my ice auger some more but the weather just didn't cooperate. We may get another cold spell soon. Good luck in MN! If you have time when you get back please post on how you do.
