timsfly Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Unless there is a lot of ice on friday morning, the hill should be passable, if you are careful, it is still slick a lot of the times, even if it has been worked over, you'll need to be very careful. Looks like we might get a lot of ice on thursday evening, and into friday morning, I'll try to post on twitter and on OAF as soon as I get to the shop on friday, I'll make it if it is possible at all to get there There is nothing in the park open on sunday, everything is closed. I'll be open at 10 and close at 1 if there is nobody in the park I'll fish and then not even open, and just go home when I'm done fishing good luck and be careful comming down this weekend. Members Adam B Posted January 28, 2010 Members Posted January 28, 2010 So it is still fine to fish if the park is closed on Sunday? I havent been up there much at all, where is this fly shop located at? Yeah I will for sure check the weather. The river is about 2 and a half hours from where I am at. Thanks everyone!
timsfly Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 The park is not closed, all the concessions are closed in the winter, park store, cabins and motel, the park office will be open in the afternoons on sunday, for campers, they have nothing to do with the fishing in the park. The hatchery will be open, but you can't buy anything there. The fly shop in on hwy 112 north of the park about 1/2 mile, and it is a another 6 miles to Cassville. Hope this helps. Holler at me on saturday, and I can tell you how good the roads are. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Members Adam B Posted January 29, 2010 Members Posted January 29, 2010 Thanks alot Sir! Maybe I will come visit that fly shop. It has been quite a while since I have been in a real fly shop. The roads or anything arent too bad here yet (Van Buren-Fort Smith AR area) but I have seen Fayetteville on the news and it looks pretty rough! OKC looks like they have it really bad too. But I will for sure check in with you if I plan on going. Thanks alot again. Hey do you have any nice hook sharpeners and nippers there? Or like a good Sharpener Nipper tool? I could buy one from you mail-order or something if I cant make it there. My local place doesnt really have one and I dont want just some junk one off ebay. Thanks once again :-)
timsfly Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Dr. Slick makes a nice nipper, with diamond dust on the side of the nipper, makes a good sharpener. Look up Dr. Slick(google them) and I'm sure it is on the site, I carry those in the shop. Members Adam B Posted January 31, 2010 Members Posted January 31, 2010 I dunno about you guys but we had 6.5-7 inches of snow and ice here in Van Buren. I wont be able to make it this time. Hope everyone is safe!
Members Adam B Posted January 31, 2010 Members Posted January 31, 2010 Just wondering if anyone knew the road conditions from about Fayetteville Ark to the Roaring River? I dont think it should be a problem so I might try and head up there Sunday afternoon. Any info would be great if you checked the forums this morning! Thank you
timsfly Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I had one guy show up yesterday from Arkansas. He told me the main hwys were good, the road to the park, hwy 112 was still pretty nasty, but he made it just fine in a front will drive, so I figure if you really want to fish, you can get here.
