Hi all,

I've been fishing Lake Norfork during April for the last 3 years. For the most part, I've found the Striper fishing to be pretty good, except for last year. We only got one "good" fish at 19lbs and the numbers were way down. We did do well for crappie (up to 16") and walleyes (up to 22") though. During April 08, "the high water year" we had awesome fishing for striper both size (3 over 25lbs) and numbers. We always stay near the Jordan area and fish the main lake points from the Dam up to Woods point. This year we have more people than our usual cottage can accommodate thus we have to stay at a new place. The resorts we have selected are located on the northern half of Norfork (north of HWY 62), unfortunately we have never fished that area before.

We are planning on being there for a week during late April. I was just wondering is the area from Mallard point up through Bennetts arm good for stripers during late April or would it be better for us to make the run towards the areas we normally fish? Just trying to get a game plan together and get some un-biased opinions, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have been fishing Norfork for about 10 years, staying north of 62.Regarding fishing we do a lot of running around and do pretty good down on this end.Fishing the bluffs and around Cranfield can be pretty good also around #4 for stripers. Will be down at Norfork the last week of April with a large group at Teal point.

FISHIN 4 FUN,

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. Since we will be at Norfork during the same week it would probably be beneficial to exchange contact info so we can share notes on what's best working. We will have 2 boats down there.

I'd assume the striper fishing would be pretty much the same all over the lake during the spring as long as the water is relatively low and clear, but I just don't have experience all over the lake. Two years ago during the "high water year" when driving up to the 101 Bait shop we noticed that the water was significanty more colored than where we were staying in the Jordan area. I'd assume this "muddier" water would negatively impact the striper fishing but I'm not sure? Anyone else do much striper fishing on the northern half of Norfork during spring?
